Press Release: Mossberg® Celebrates Centennial with Launch of MC1sc™ Handgun

89001 - MC1sc - Extended Magazine - Profile - White Background - LARGE

NORTH HAVEN, CT – In celebration of the company’s 100th Anniversary, O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., is announcing the release of a full-featured, 9mm concealed carry handgun: the Mossberg MC1sc (subcompact). Coming full circle from the company’s first firearm design, called the Brownie, a 22 caliber, four-shot “pocket pistol,” Mossberg has incorporated 100 years of engineering expertise in developing this superb concealed carry handgun. The MC1sc is available in five initial 9mm offerings: the standard MC1sc and an optional cross-bolt safety version; two standard offerings with sighting systems, choose from TRUGLO® Tritium Pro™ Night Sights or a Viridian® E-Series Red Laser; and a Centennial Limited Edition with a production run limited to 1,000 commemorative models.

After 100 years in business, Mossberg has grown to be the 6th largest U.S. firearms manufacturer, and remains dedicated to innovation, with over 100 design and utility patents to its credit. The MC1sc reflects three years of development and new patent-pending ideas in combining the most highly-desired features in the subcompact market with Mossberg’s innovative approach to design. Important features in a subcompact handgun are size, weight, caliber and carryability; and the MC1sc delivers with its overall length of 6.45 inches; recoil-managing weight of 19 ounces (with empty magazine); and barrel length of 3.4 inches in the popular 9mm chambering. Other desired features include two single-stack magazines, a flush 6-round and 7-round extended; glass-reinforced polymer frame; and suggested retail price of $421 for the two standard models.

Innovation is what sets this subcompact apart from the competition. The MC1sc features Mossberg’s Clear-Count™ single-stack magazines. Constructed of a transparent, lubricious polymer compound, the magazines offer low friction and high wear-resistance, while providing quick at-a-glance assessment of the number and type of rounds loaded. The magazines also feature easy-to-remove floor plates and high-visibility followers. Each model comes with a flush 6-round and extended 7-round magazine. The MC1sc has the revolutionary, patent-pending Mossberg STS™ (Safe Takedown System), which unlike competitive products, does not require the user to pull the trigger to dissemble for routine cleaning or maintenance. Rounding out the innovative design is an aggressive patent-pending Mossberg signature grip texturing, added palm swell and grip angle (similar to a 1911) for a more confident, firm grip.

Dv_siPzWkAEY-37

Standard features have not been overlooked in the design of the MC1sc. The slide is constructed of stainless steel with a DLC (Diamond Like Coating) finish, providing for reduction of slide friction and wear resistance. Aggressive, multi-angle serrations provide for ease of slide manipulation. And the slide is topped with dovetailed-mounted, low-profile white 3-Dot sights. The durable frame is constructed of a glass-reinforced polymer which provides high impact and chemical resistance with high tensile strength and stiffness. The barrel, constructed of stainless steel, also features a DLC coating and 1-in-16 twist rate. The MC1sc trigger has a flat profile and integrated blade safety; short, tactile reset; reduced overtravel; and has a 5 to 6 pound pull weight. The smooth take-up combined with the flat trigger face offers an improved feel and clean, crisp trigger break. Trigger guards are also oversized for ease of access and comfort. All MC1sc models have a reversible magazine release, located behind the trigger guard, and there is also a frame variant with a reversible cross-bolt manual safety available.

As a factory option, you can choose from MC1sc™ models with two sight systems. TRUGLO Tritium Pro Night Sights feature a FOCUS•LOCK ring for faster focus combined with a quick U-notch design providing outstanding sighting in low-light shooting conditions or complete darkness. The trigger-guard mounted Viridian E-Series Red Laser is specifically designed for the everyday conceal and carry owner, providing a powerful red laser for rapid target acquisition.

In celebration of Mossberg’s anniversary, a MC1sc Centennial Limited Edition will be available, limited to a run of 1000 units with sequential serial numbering. Features include 24 karat gold accents engraved on the slide; Titanium Nitride-finished barrel and metal small parts; and special serial number.

O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. opened its doors 100 years ago in March of 1919 with the vision of designing and manufacturing quality sporting firearms at affordable prices. Continuing this tradition, Mossberg is proud to introduce the newest member of its family, the MC1sc handgun. Press Release: The Bushmaster Unicorn, Also Known as ACR Caliber Conversions Do They Really Exist?

Unicorn Sasquach Patch

The Bushmaster Unicorn, Also Known as ACR Caliber Conversions

Do They Really Exist?

Huntsville, AL – The Bushmaster ACR was brought to market in 2010 with the promise of unparalleled adaptability. The concept was simple; an extremely reliable, versatile, and modular platform, capable of tool-less configuration and caliber changes in minutes by swapping the bolt head, barrel and magazine. Unfortunately, much like a mythical creature, the caliber conversions have never been seen. Until now.

Finally, after many years of development, we are excited to announce the first of many new caliber conversions for the ACR. With fully ambidextrous controls, improved ergonomics, an ultra reliable gas piston operating system, and tool-less configuration and caliber adaptability, the ACR is now the most field adaptable Modern Sporting Rifle Platform available.

Video: The Guns We Use From 10 To 50 Yards on Our AR500 Steel Plate From MK Machining

MK Machining

Before we get to the review of the plate and the video, I would like to share the chance for you to get some free steel of your very own from MK Machining. Shoot Selly@rankmediaagency.com an email and let them know Atticus sent you!

First I would like to say thank you to MK Machining for shipping us out this 66% IPSC AR500 3/8” thick steel plate for this review.

As most of you know, I prefer to shoot steel while I am reviewing guns so you can hear the hits. Rather than trying to publish an “ad” for MK Machining, I wanted to share the guns that we like to shoot from 10 to 50 yards at the steel.

Champion

I like to base all of my AR500 3/8 thick steel safety against this instruction list right here.

This list is the bible when it comes to shooting this steel. It clearly out-lines what you shouldn’t do.

8. 3/8” thick targets are intended for use with handgun, rifle, and supersonic rimfire cartridges as well as shotgun birdshot, buckshot and slugs only at appropriate distances described below.
9. 15 yards is the minimum shooting distance when using non-magnum class handgun, supersonic .22LR rimfire, and shotgun birdshot ammunition.
10. 25 yards is the minimum shooting distance when using shotgun buckshot.
11. 50 yards is the minimum shooting distance when using magnum class handgun ammunition, and shotgun slugs.
12. 100 yards is the minimum shooting distance when using standard rifle ammunition under 2,500 fps upon impact and less than 3000 ft/lb of energy upon impact.
13. 250 yards is the minimum shooting distance when using magnum class rifle ammunition under 2,500 fps upon impact and less than 3000 ft/lb of energy upon impact.

As you can see in the video, we shoot everything from .22LR up to .300BLK and 7.62x39mm at a safe distance. I also said in the video that 5.56/.223 is a 100 yard minimum safe distance round and when it comes to my .308s and the long barrels even that can be 150-200 yard for safe shooting.

AR500 is a common steel and a great thing to have on your range and you can find it from great manufactures like MKMachining.com.

Steel can be dangerous but with the right guidelines and proper care, steel can be your greatest shooting ally.
