This week on Cool Guns of The Internet. Todays post is brought to you by the awesome guys over at CMMG. If you have a firearm you would like us to post in next weeks CGI all you have to do is send us a picture of your firearms via email, at “firstname.lastname@example.org” and we’ll post it! But tell us what the firearm is and for more flavor, tell us a story about the gun like a funny hunting trip, or a sentimental story about the gun! Make it as detailed as possible! And let us know who you are if you want photo credit!
Ron with his CMMG MK4 and custom AR pistol. Awesome toys Ron!
I like this rifle. I have been in contact with Ritter and Stark and I have told them I want to see this rifle in the American market because of how awesome it is!
I am on a caliber conversion kick right now with the #WindhamProject, so the Ritter & Stark: SX-1 MTR Modular Tactical Rifle has really tickled my fancy.
This promo video below is making me drool.
This is just a thought of mine and not something I have talked about with them but it would be cool to see a platform like this that runs the .308, .300 Win Mag and the .338 Lapua but has the ability to be upgraded to .50BMG or .408 Cheytac. (The Ritter and Stark SX-1 does not do this)
In addition to the unique styling, Volquartsen Firearms included a number of performance features including:
CNC machined receiver made of stainless steel with integral Weaver type optic mount 18.5″ threaded, match grade barrel a forward blow compensator that adds two inches to the overall length of the gun an overall length of 38″ and weight of 5.16 pounds (unloaded) one 10-round magazine
According to the company, there will only be 100 of these rifle made, and the guns will only be available through Davidson’s Gallery of Guns.
Richard Johnson over at The Firearm Blog has the full write up about the rifle above.

WMD Guns Shipped:
Shipped their new NiB-X Black Full Auto 5.56 Bolt Carrier Group with a NiB Hammer for the trigger assembly.
Its been a wet spring, so I’m just waiting for things to dry out to be able to head to the range.
While looking for 5.56/.223 Bolt Carrier Groups (BCG) for the #WindhamProject I looked into replacing Windham Weaponry’s all black BCG with a Nickel Boron coated BCG from a few different manufacturers. I found WMD Guns and after a few months of finalizing a new coating they sent us one.
A New Coating
The new coating, as I understand it, is a double plating of Nickel Boron (NiB). The bottom plating is the standard silvery Nib with a top plating of a NiB-X Black. The NiB-X Black is 40% more wear-resistant than chrome (wear rating from the description sent with the product from WMD Guns).
I don’t want to give any thoughts outside of the look since I haven’t had it in my hands until last week. I will say that it is a cool looking BCG.
Style of Choice
The bolt carrier group is a full auto bolt. This is my style of choice, only because the weight slows the BCG down on semi auto. This insures better extraction with my cheap steel cased ammo.
The Real Reason
My biggest reason for the BCG change is the fact that the Windham 7.62×39 and 5.56 BCGs are both black. This makes it harder to distinguish in low light or with someone who has never used the rifle before.
