The weapons were produced from 1948–1968 by Czech arms designer Vaclav Holek at the Uhersky Brod arms factory.

The differences between the 7.62×25 and the 9mm versions can been seen by looking at the magazine and hand grip. The 7.62×25 chambered weapons has a forward leaning slope to allow for the round to be chambered properly in the weapon. The 9mm has a straight vertical grip and magazine.
