Well, this Monday was an interesting one. As a friend and I walk into our local indoor range we discovered that new to their rental arsenal was a Desert Eagle Mark XIX in .50 Cal. Not having fired the legendary DE, we jumped on the opportunity and became the first to rent it. We only had the five rounds that came with the package since I don’t tend to keep any .50 AE just in case.
I have to say, I was pretty worked up about getting to fire such a huge pistol, but I tried to keep an even head and squeeze of two good rounds (we divvied up the five rounds 3-2). I honestly thought it would be more violent than it was, but the concussive force of the round was still intense. Everyone in the range dropped what they were doing and came looking for the source after that first shot. As amazing as it is throwing a massive chunk of lead down range be sure to remind the people with you to be aware of their surroundings. As you may notice in the attached video, the casing took a bite out of my amigos forehead.
What are your thoughts on some of the higher caliber pistols? Is the bang worth the buck?
