What I’m about to tell you is going to be shocking and disturbing to some of you, but the truth is… I love suppressors. With the U.S. government eliminating the $200 tax stamp on suppressors and short-barreled rifles, we’ve seen the suppressor market flooded with new cans. Some are very basic and designed to be cheap and inexpensive to own. Others feature cutting-edge technology designed to ensure that you, the consumer, get the highest-quality sound suppression for your dollar.

Every manufacturer is trying to come up with something new. Whether it’s low back pressure, better sound suppression, lighter weight, improved durability, or revolutionary internal geometry that’s supposed to change everything, the challenge remains the same: how do we separate marketing hype from reality?
If you live in Texas, East Texas to be more specific, you might have the opportunity to come out to the shop and try before you buy. We allow customers to demo suppressors on their own platforms with their own ammunition, and we maintain a wide range of suppressors for testing. Anytime a new suppressor comes out, I want to jump on the bandwagon and get one so our clients have the opportunity to try everything available.
With that said, I also want hard-use, real-world shooting experience before I ever recommend a product to a consumer. For years, Precision Armament was a company I mainly associated with muzzle devices and the cool patches I picked up at their booth during SHOT Show. Last year, they pulled us aside and said they would be releasing suppressors soon and wanted us to try them out.
Naturally, I wanted to see what they were bringing to the table that other manufacturers weren’t.
At first glance, I noticed they offered Inconel and titanium versions. That alone didn’t immediately suggest they would be the quietest suppressors available. They aren’t the longest suppressors on the market. They don’t feature modularity. Whether you’re looking at the .260 suppressor. .30cal or even the .36 caliber suppressor, they’re all the same length.
The most unique thing I initially learned was their serialized ring design. If a suppressor is damaged, the company can cut away the damaged 3D-printed section and rebuild around the serialized ring, since that ring legally constitutes the suppressor. That’s undeniably cool, but it doesn’t automatically scream “quiet” or “low back pressure.”
Enter the Precision Armament TiTrex
What I knew Precision Armament for was muzzle devices. While a suppressor technically falls into that category, suppressors and muzzle brakes are very different products. One is designed to make shooting softer and quieter. The other is designed to reduce recoil, flash, or muzzle rise.
I wasn’t entirely convinced they were up to the task. Then again, everybody seems to be making suppressors these days, so why not?

Why the TiTrex Matters for East Texas Shooters
Here in East Texas, we live in the woods. We don’t have massive open spaces where sound simply disappears into the distance. Gunshots reverberate off trees and terrain, creating a very different shooting environment.
This is something I love demonstrating to clients. Depending on where you’re standing on the range or out in the pasture, the suppressor can sound dramatically different because sound waves are bouncing back from different angles.
The majority of our customers are also .300 Blackout shooters. They’re looking for suppressors that function well on semi-auto AR platforms, sound great with subsonic ammunition, and still have the ability to handle larger calibers.
For those who may not be familiar with suppressors, many 9mm pistol suppressors can safely handle subsonic .300 Blackout because the projectile diameter is smaller than 9mm. However, they generally cannot withstand the pressure generated by supersonic .300 Blackout loads.
As a result, most of our clients prefer a dedicated rifle suppressor. Whether they’re hunting deer with a .308 or calling in a sounder of hogs with a .300 Blackout, they want a suppressor purpose-built for rifle use.

Inconel vs. Titanium: Choosing the Right TiTrex
Precision Armament offers both Inconel and titanium versions of the TiTrex.
I chose the Inconel model because I wanted a hard-use suppressor for demonstrations. As a dealer, that gives me peace of mind because I never know what customers are going to bring to the range. Whether someone shows up with a standard rifle, an FRT-equipped firearm, or a Super Safety setup, the suppressor is capable of handling the abuse.
That doesn’t mean the titanium version should be overlooked.
The Inconel suppressor feels substantial. At 13.9 ounces, it is not an ultralight hunting suppressor. Precision Armament selected Inconel for a reason. It’s a space-age alloy built to withstand extreme temperatures, resist erosion, and survive sustained heavy rapid fire.
The moment you pick it up, you understand its purpose.
Durability comes first.
Compare it to the 9.4-ounce titanium version and the weight difference becomes immediately noticeable. Swap them back and forth on a rifle during a long shooting session and you’ll absolutely feel the difference. The sound remains excellent with either version, but the weight at the muzzle is something shooters will notice.

First Impressions and Build Quality
When I first picked up the suppressor, it simply felt good.
That’s difficult to explain because it’s not something we normally discuss in the shooting industry. The suppressor has a texture and finish that feels refined. It doesn’t feel like just another metal tube. Instead, it reminds me of the premium packaging we associate with high-end electronics.
Everything feels clean, precise, and professional.
Nothing feels rushed.
Nothing feels mass-produced.
When you pick up this suppressor, it communicates exactly what it’s trying to accomplish: making the shooting experience softer and more refined.

Mounting System and HUB Compatibility
Let’s talk about mounting.
If a rifle suppressor isn’t HUB compatible, I’m generally not interested. I want to use the muzzle devices and mounting systems that I already trust. I don’t want to be forced into a proprietary ecosystem. Fortunately, Precision Armament understands that.
The TiTrex is HUB compatible, and rather than introducing some overly complicated mounting system, they include a simple direct-thread mount in the box. Would I love to see an over-engineered, silky-smooth Precision Armament quick-detach system? Absolutely.
After shooting the TiTrex, you quickly realize that Precision Armament didn’t enter the suppressor market simply because everyone else was doing it. They entered because they genuinely understand muzzle devices.
The mounting interface feels secure and repeatable. Throughout testing, I experienced no meaningful point-of-impact shift whether using the included direct-thread mount or my preferred QD systems.
I moved the suppressor between multiple rifles repeatedly. Every time it locked up securely, returned to zero, and it remained consistent. That’s exactly what I want from a suppressor.

Sound Suppression Performance
Now let’s discuss what everyone actually wants to know. How quiet is it? That’s a loaded question. Are you shooting subsonic ammunition? Are you shooting supersonic ammunition? No suppressor can eliminate the ballistic crack of a supersonic .308 round. That’s simply physics. The crack remains because the projectile itself is breaking the sound barrier.
What the TiTrex does exceptionally well is eliminate the violent muzzle blast that contributes so much to the perceived sound signature.
On subsonic .300 Blackout, the suppressor sounds fantastic. Honestly, I think it performs in the sound category of suppressors longer than itself. What impressed me even more was performance on a bolt-action .308 firing supersonic ammunition. The TiTrex produces a deeper, lower-frequency tone that shooters appreciate. Instead of a sharp, high-pitched crack that creates discomfort, the suppressor delivers a controlled and refined sound signature.

Yes, supersonic ammunition is still loud. However, the tone is dramatically improved. That makes a significant difference to the shooter. Whenever I demonstrate this suppressor, most clients initially shoot their own firearm, usually a direct-impingement short-barreled .300 Blackout firing subsonic ammunition. They’re almost always impressed.
Then I introduce a new variable. I hand them our 20-inch .308 bolt-action rifle loaded with supersonic ammunition and let them shoot around the tree line. That experience sells the suppressor every time. The conversation immediately changes from, “What do you recommend?” to, “Where has this been?”
The reality is simple. It didn’t exist the last time many of these clients visited. Whenever new technology enters the market, I want customers to experience it firsthand so they understand what’s available today compared to even a year ago. I’ll be completely honest… I wasn’t expecting magic from Precision Armament. Then I shot the TiTrex with supersonic .308 ammunition. After that, all I wanted to do was keep shooting.
Back Pressure Performance
Another common question is back pressure. The TiTrex doesn’t use obvious flow-through ports or turbine-style technology. Precision Armament doesn’t market it as a low-back-pressure suppressor. Even so, it performs surprisingly well. Whether mounted on an AR-15 or AR-10, gas blowback remains manageable. In some cases, it feels less intrusive than other traditional suppressors I’ve tested over the years.
Suppressor design is always a balancing act. Reduce too much back pressure and sound suppression often suffers. Maximize suppression and gas blowback frequently increases. The TiTrex strikes a very respectable balance between the two.
Precision Armament also designed the front cap system to accommodate open-source suppressor brakes. This allows shooters to take advantage of future accessory development from other manufacturers. Additionally, shooters can purchase smaller caliber front caps for larger-caliber suppressors. A smaller caliber endcap can reduce escaping gas and improve suppression. Of course, shooters must be careful when swapping end caps between calibers. Running a larger projectile through an undersized cap is a quick way to destroy it.

Heat Management and Durability
Since I selected the Inconel version, heat becomes part of the conversation.
This suppressor gets extremely hot. Rapid-fire shooting can make it unbearable to touch. During demonstrations, I use high-temperature gloves when removing suppressors because ordinary gloves simply aren’t enough. After removal, the suppressor goes directly onto a silicone mat to prevent damage to surrounding equipment.
The upside is obvious. I never worry about heat cycles, full auto shooting, or damaging the suppressor through heavy use. Heat mirage does become a consideration. As the suppressor heats up, distortion can become visible through magnified optics. A suppressor cover can help reduce that effect.
If your primary purpose is hunting and you don’t expect sustained heavy rapid fire, I’d lean toward the titanium version. Titanium generally manages heat differently during slower shooting and may reduce mirage concerns.
For hard-use applications, however, the Inconel version is difficult to beat. This material thrives under conditions that challenge lesser suppressors. That durability provides tremendous peace of mind.
Areas for Improvement
No suppressor is perfect.
The TiTrex 30 Inconel has trade-offs.
Weight is the most obvious. The durability of Inconel comes at the cost of additional weight. Shooters accustomed to lighter titanium suppressors will immediately notice the difference. For a hard-use suppressor, however, I believe the trade-off is justified.
Price may also be a consideration. At just under $1,200, this is not an inexpensive suppressor. That money could easily be spent on quality optics, additional ammunition, or upgrades to a precision rifle. At the same time, there are plenty of .30 caliber suppressors available around the $600 mark.
Are they comparable?
Only in the sense that both are suppressors.
Beyond that, the TiTrex competes in an entirely different category than many budget-oriented options. I regularly recommend inexpensive .22 caliber suppressors because they make tremendous sense for average shooters.
When it comes to .30 caliber suppressors, however, I generally believe serious buyers should start looking in the $800-and-up category. Premium materials, advanced manufacturing, extensive research and development, and quality control all cost money.
The TiTrex demonstrates exactly where that investment went.
Final Thoughts on the Precision Armament TiTrex
After sharing this suppressor with the entire Gears of Guns crew, demonstrating it to clients, and watching people repeatedly fall in love with it, my conclusion is straightforward.
The TiTrex delivers exactly what I wanted from a compact hard-use suppressor.
It’s durable, accurate, and well-built. It manages gas effectively. Most importantly, it suppresses even supersonic .308 ammunition exceptionally well. Yes, lighter suppressors exist. Every option comes with trade-offs. A lighter suppressor may not tolerate the same level of abuse from sustained heavy rapid fire, force reset triggers, or Super Safety-equipped firearms.
The Inconel TiTrex can.

I have been consistently impressed every time this suppressor has gone to the range. From .270 Winchester to .300 Win Mag, the sound reduction has been remarkable. What surprises me most is the level of performance without requiring a suppressor that stretches 12 to 14 inches in length.
Precision Armament didn’t chase gimmicks. They invested heavily in research and development and brought a genuinely impressive suppressor to market. I also appreciate that both the Inconel and titanium versions cost the same. That eliminates the consumer debate between choosing based on budget and choosing based on actual needs. Whether your priority is durability or weight savings, you can make that decision without price influencing the equation. The TiTrex is reliable, durable, and highly effective where performance matters most. In the suppressor world, that’s a difficult combination to beat.
