Saddam Hussein’s personal Ruger M77 was obtained by the CIA in 2004 and ultimately was given to the chief of station in Baghdad who was given the dictator’s rifle as an “honorarium” for his long history of undercover service. The rifle was put up for auction last month and sold for $48,875. We have all seen him in pictures or on the news holding this Ruger with one hand and firing it during Iraqi military parades. This is a very iconic gun in a terrifying kind of way. I was just a little surprised there wasn’t any gold plating or jewels on his gun since being a dictator in the middle east and the fact he gave out chrome and gold-plated rifles out as gifts.
