I have had the IWI Masada for a few weeks, but due to other more pressing project deadlines, I had to wait to publish this article. Since this video is a first look, I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, as I have new opinions since I first got this pistol. I do want to talk a little about why I am such a fan.
The Controls of The IWI Masada
I think it is extremely important when any company is building a striker-fired pistol that they need to be better than a Gen 1 Glock. It needs to, in some way, tell the shooter that “we see you over there Gen 1s, but we are going to be better”.
I say Gen 1, because a Gen 4/5 offer some features that most striker-fired pistols have now, like an accessory rail or optic mounts. With all of that said, the controls on the IWI Masada are fully ambidextrous, out of the box. Plus the controls are full-sized and not just designed for someone with extra long fingers.
The Trigger
As I state in the first look video, this trigger is spongy, and then it breaks cleanly. It is both a good and bad trigger. It breaks cleaner than a few match-grade triggers I have been working with as of late. I don’t like the feel of bending plastic (mind you the trigger isn’t bending it just feels that way) when I am pulling a trigger.
In the Box
In the box, you have two (2) 17 Round 9mm magazines ($30 on
IWIs store *Angry Face*), one cable pistol lock, optic mounts for different red
dot sights, and a whole lot of carne asada IWI Masada.
Stay tuned for a full review coming out later on this year after we get one or two more rounds down range.
