Intro to the YHM Turbo K Suppressor
As you might have seen The YHM Turbo K Suppressor when we went to Austin, TX to meet up with Silencershop and Chris Graham of Yankee Hill Machine. When they released the YHM Turbo K suppressor at SHOT 2019 we were interested in getting our hands on it so that we could really see what all the hype was about. YHM was talking about how quiet it is, how small it is and how light it is. This really didn’t mean much to me, as EVERY manufacturer is going to have some reason why their can is one you should own.
Your First Suppressor?
Look, don’t get me wrong, I was not skeptical because of the company, I have worked with them in great detail in the past. I like their products but if you come at me with a can that costs $355 before tax stamp and tell me I need the can I am going to question it.
It wasn’t until I got my hands on the YHM Turbo K suppressor, back at the ranch, that I really started to see what they were telling me and what I am going to tell you. This can is awesome! For instance, here are a few reasons why:
- Low enough cost that you aren’t breaking the bank.
- This is a QD can.
- It is a Direct Thread Can.
- The YHM Turbo K is lightweight so you aren’t lugging around a heavy can.
- In both configurations, it is short and really reduces the sound signature.
Specs
Specs don’t always mean much to me. I look at it and it is a bunch of numbers and figures that tell me only part of the picture. A wider picture is better shown in the video below, but the whole picture is when you get your hands on one and hear it for the first time.

Overall thoughts
I ran both the Turbo 556 and the new Turbo K from YHM. Above all, interchangeably of the Turbo K won me over. Sure, I have muzzle devices on ALL of my AR rifles but with the YHM can, I don’t have to purchase a new muzzle device if I want to run this can. While I have the freedom the pick and choose and if I want more Phantom QD mounts, well I know a great place to buy them.
The video really says it all.
