This rifles design is based on and uses some of the same components as the FN SCAR-H MK-17 to allow the shooter to go from one rifle to the next without being retrained on a new platform and to reduce cost.

The SCAR-H PR (Heavy, Precision Rifle) uses the .308/7.62NATO cartridge which has an effective range out to 800m for long range precision while still letting the shooter use in shorter range combat.
