Griffin Armament Gate-LOK HUB Mount Review

My Favorite HUB Mount for Suppressors

Today is going to be a bit of a shorter review, and it is not really about a product like a suppressor. Instead, I want to talk about an accessory for an accessory. Today, I am looking at the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK HUB mounting interface.

This has to be my all-time favorite HUB mount for suppressors. It is the primary mount that I use on my .300 Blackout SBR, and every time I have the opportunity to take a client out to the range, I like to show this system off.

The biggest thing when it comes to QD mounts is that you want something that locks up well, locks up consistently,  and is truly a quick-detach and quick-attach setup. There are a lot of different QD mount options out there that are HUB compatible. Some I like, some I will never use again, and some are simply so prevalent that they are becoming a standard in and of themselves, much like HUB mounts have.

That is great for the industry, but honestly, this is one I like better.

Griffin Armament Gate-LOK Mount Options

The nice thing about the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK system is that they have the two most common thread mounts for 5.56 and .30 caliber. The majority of their muzzle devices are 5.56, with a single .30 caliber Gate-LOK FlashComp.

Another thing I like about this mount is that it really only has two restrictions.

If you are running .300 Win Mag, it requires a minimum 24-inch barrel. If you are running 6.5 Creedmoor, it requires a 14.5-inch barrel.

Other than those restrictions, there are no other limitations for running this mount on your gun.

Now, you might be questioning why I am telling you about an accessory to an accessory. The fact is, this is my favorite, and I wanted to give you a review this week. While I do have a lot going on, I still wanted to give you something that is important to me and something that I think, if you get the opportunity to have one demonstrated to you, will make you say, “Well, why don’t I have one of those?”

The Gate-LOK HUB Mount and USGI A2 Muzzle Devices

The really cool thing about this HUB mount is that it was designed to fit USGI A2 government contract-compliant muzzle devices.

Now, that is not to say that all A2 muzzle devices are going to fit. A lot of the ones that I already own do not fit. However, if you are wanting to keep an M16 clone as true to spec as possible while still having the ability to run one of your suppressors on it, this gives you an option without having to remove the muzzle device or change the muzzle device for a different suppressor.

If you have that USGI A2 government contract-compliant muzzle device, the Birdcage that is probably already on your gun, this mount will fit that configuration and is more than likely going to work.

That is one of the things that really makes this system stand out to me. You do not necessarily have to start changing everything on the rifle simply because you want to add a suppressor.

Why I Like the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK System

I guess the point I am trying to make is that, when it comes to suppressors, which are a very hot topic right now, there are a lot of options when it comes to customizing how they mount to your gun.

You can go with the super-common option, or you can find something that really matches how you like your suppressor to lock down on your gun. For me, this is my personal favorite.

The Gate-LOK gives you a setup that locks onto the rifle quickly without having to deal with traditional threads every time you want to remove the suppressor. With a simple movement of your thumb, you can unlock the system and slide the suppressor off your gun when you need to remove it.

That quick-detach capability is exactly what I am looking for in a suppressor mounting system. I want something that locks up securely when I am using it, but I also want to be able to remove the suppressor without turning the process into a project.

Final Thoughts on the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK HUB Mount

At a price of $219 for the mount and under $100 for the Gate-LOK muzzle devices, you can really lock down your rifle quickly without having to deal with threads every time you want to attach or remove your suppressor.

For me, the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK HUB mounting interface has become my favorite way to mount a suppressor. It may not be a suppressor itself, but the way your suppressor attaches to your firearm is a big part of the overall setup. There are plenty of HUB-compatible QD mounts available, and everyone is going to have their own preference.

This one is mine.

If you are looking for a HUB mount that gives you a quick-attach and quick-detach setup, while also offering compatibility with certain USGI A2 government contract-compliant muzzle devices, the Griffin Armament Gate-LOK is one that I think is worth taking a look at.

Sometimes the best upgrades are not the biggest or most expensive parts on the gun. Sometimes it is the little accessory that makes the entire setup work the way you want it to.
