Project Red Dragon: Time to STRIKE

  • by

As many of you know I enjoy building a new AR every few years and last year was no exception. We had a Windham Weaponry pistol that was in need of a major facelift so what else could I do but call on a few industry friends to make this pistol a true beast?

Specs:

Firearm: Windham Weaponry RP9SFS-7 Pistol (Due to the ATF AFT ruling they have discontinued making pistols)
The main goal I had for this to start was that I wanted to have a black and red gun. I hadn’t planned on the name Project Red Dragon until we got our first package in. Strike industries came through and shipped out a few items for this project and after getting the last item installed we knew what we had to call this gun.

And the most important part to why we call it Project Red Dragon, STRIKE INDUSTRIES: Mini King Comp 556

We do carry some Strike Industries products so if you are wanting something you can pick it up at our new store at ShopGearsofGuns.com.

The Mini King Comp on a 7″ barrel just breathes fireballs. If you haven’t shot a firearm that throws fireballs you are missing out. It gives the shooter a sense of “cool” because you see it from behind the rifle. When a gun throws flames and is LOUD what else can you call it but a dragon? I am a big fan of being able to customize your firearm to your taste. While a CZ unicorn from a video game isn’t my taste, having a splash of red makes this pistol stand out in my gun safe and on the range.

Shooting

This is not a firearm I did any accuracy testing on. This is just a fun gun for me. I will say that it recoils as it should. It is a solid-built firearm and adding things like the Mini King Comp just improves the feel. Once it was sighted in with the Lucid M7 red dot, it just drills the targets from 25 to 200 yards.

The Videos

I do have a build coming up with SilencerCo and Rosco Manufacturing that I am excited about so stay tuned for that build.

The Wrap-up

At the end of the day, what can I say? This was a fun build. We love working with great companies like WMD for their red accent kit and red BCG, as well as Phase 5 for their awesome Ambi Battle Latch Charging Handle in red, and the Lucid M7 Red Dot that I might need to get cerakoted in red to match. Windham Weaponry always builds solid and long-lasting firearms which is why you see them so much on Gearsofguns.

If you are looking to spice up your firearms there are some awesome products on the shelves.
