The Q5 Match

The Q5 Match
If you haven’t checked out the first look video, I will have it posted below. We have been working with Walther for years and we recently published a review of the Walther Colt 1911-22 pistol. Last year we reviewed the Q4 Tac which is their “suppressor-ready” version, that we felt was missing the suppressor sights (I’m sorry but you can’t call it suppressor-ready and not have high sights out of the box). The Q5 is a match grade, mass-produced (non-pro-shop) pistol.

Walther Q5 Match Full Review

Specs

CALIBER: 9mm
BARREL LENGTH: 5”
TRIGGER PULL: 5.6lbs
TRIGGER TRAVEL: 0.4”
CAPACITY: 15 + 1
OVERALL LENGTH: 8.1”
HEIGHT: 5.3”
WIDTH: 1.3”
WEIGHT EMPTY: 23OZ

Something you will notice is that the Q5 is a longer barrel and slide than the Q4 Tac model.  The Q5 Match is even bigger than the Q4 Tac, but when you weigh them you see that because of their porting of the slide (not the barrel which would have been AMAZING) the Q5 Match comes in 2 OZ lighter than the Q4 Tac at 25 OZ.

Final thoughts and review of the Walther Q5 Match

I don’t have a ton of cons about this pistol. I would change the fiber optic to a different color if we kept the pistol. That way, when I mount a red dot, my brain doesn’t have to think about which red is the dot and which is the fiber optic. Personally, I would prefer the Q4s trigger over the Q5 blue Match grade trigger, but what do I know?

I am not a competition shooter. I wanted this pistol because it comes in at $650 for a performance pistol. When you look at the cost of a match grade pistol, you aren’t looking at $650. Competition shooters drop serious coin to build a race gun.

What are your thoughts on the Q4 or Q5 pistols? Would you buy one for your collection?
